Jones Descendants

First Generation

Daniel Edmund Jones, CSA, born between 1815-1825, married Eugenia King, of Danielsville, Rhode Island, who was described as a "red-headed school teacher." They had seven children but only three were mentioned in article in Macon County Life by David Fowler - Ezekial, Beura, Leonard.

The Book "Broken Fortunes-SC soldiers, sailors & Citizens who died in the service of their country and state in the War for Southern Independence 1861-1865" by Randolph W. Kirkland, Jr. has the following names people with the last names of JONES:
Unknown first name' Adam, Adam Crain; Adam C. Jr.; Andrew; Barrel, Bartholomew; Bartley; Benjamin; Britton, Burrell, Cadwallader; Caleb; Charles,
Daniel, David, David Jr.; Daniel, Edmund; Edward, Elijah, Ephriam, Evan, Francis, George, Griffin, Hiram, Hugh, James, John, Jonathan Sr & Jr; Joseph, Joshua, Malachi, Matthew, Marshall, Nathan, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Noble W., Peter, Raymond, Rees, Reuben, Richard, Robert, Robison(Richard); Samuel, Simeon, Thomas, Thomas Sr & Jr, Thomas C.; Vincent, William, William Sr & Jr, William P., William Shepard, William Skipper, William T.; Wood.

Most likely units where he would enlist were the 64th Infantry Regiment, Co. B, formed mostly from Bibb County, GA. in 1863 or the 1st Infantry Regiment Co. C formed in Houston County, Ga., in 1861. There are numerous other Daniel Jones and even one Daniel E. Jones of Campbell County (age six years on the 1850 Campbell County Census), but they are not likely this subject. --Steve Scroggins

REV. J. J. JONES BURIED AT BETHEL (by his son, Mr. Monroe Jones)
My father was 63 years of age and had been a resident of this [Macon] county all of his life, had been a member of Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church since his boyhood days and was one of the leading ministers of the Gospel of that denomination for some thirty years.
He was married twice, his former wife departed this life April the 11th 1911, of this union there were three children, S. O. Jones, J. M. Jones and Berta Jones, and his latter wife proceeded him to the grave just three months and eleven days and of this union there were two children born, Henly Grady Jones and
Neva Nell Jones.
He was a pioneer in the development of Little Bethel community and in him the churches, schools and good roads had a staunch and true friend and was loyal to any project that was for the uplift and building up of his county.
He was loyal and unswerving in his faith in the Bible and uncompromising in fight against sin in any form and as the minister, Rev. J. R. Hunt that conducted his funeral, stated in his discourse that in the great battle against sin a brave and valiant soldier has fallen. He is buried in the family plot of the Little Bethel Cemetery between the graves of his two companions in life.
Pallbears were: Rev. W. H. Emerson of Butler; Rev. D. E. Green of Ideal; Rev. Ran Lawhorn of Rupert; Rev. H. L. Lumpkin of Mault; Rev. Charlie Moore of Thomaston; and Rev. Riley Windham of Potterville.

Records suggest that Savannah Rogers died 11-Apr-1911 and that Henley Grady Jones was born of 2nd wife Nettie Poole 25-Mar-1911. Either there's a transcription error, or Henley was conceived out of wedlock.--Steve Scroggins
