MRS. LILLIAN GRESHAM SUCCUMBS AT HOME OF DAUGHTER, JUNE 9.
Mrs. Lillian McClure Gresham died at the home of her daugher, Mrs. Lee Barfield near Oglethorpe on June 9. Funeral services were held June 120 at the White Water Baptist Church.
Rev. Carl Ayers officiated and burial was in the Pine Level Cemetery.
Mrs. Gresham was
born in Macon County, September 26, 1876, daughter of the late Henry McClure and Carnebia Dobbs McClure.
Mrs. Gresham is survived by six daughters, Mrs. W. D. Kelley and Mrs. Lee Barfield of Macon County; Mrs. Ernest Fowler of Ideal; Mrs. Clovis Flower of Hawkinsville; Mrs. W. B. Overcash of Marietta; Mr. H. C. Lassiter of Atlanta; six sons, Alton Gresham of Montezuma; W. E. Gresham of Vienna; W. L. Gresham of Byromville; four brothers, Dean McClure and A. J. McClure of Atlanta; J. A. McClure of Kennesaw: David McClure of Acworth; and one sister, Mrs. Ara Pickens of Atlanta. She is also survived by twenty-eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers - not copied.
Arrangements were by Smith Tindol Funeral Service.

Probably named for his grandfather Benjamin Adams and William was an Adams and Ivey name. He married Mary Lou Gresham Adams, daughter of Jefferson Davis and Lou A. Slaton Gresham.

THE BUTLER HERALD, Taylor County, Ga. June 7, 1951 WILLIAM BENJAMIN ADAMS Mr. William Benjamin Adams, Sr. succumbed Thursday, May 31, 10:45 P.M. to an illness due to complications of more than six weeks. Just three days previous to his death Mr. Adams observed his 73rd birthday, the date of his birth being recorded as May 28, 1878. He was a native of Crawford County, but had spent almost his entire life in Taylor County, where since reaching manhood he had been engaged in farming and was regarded as one of the best and most successful farmers in his community. His farm and residence were 12 miles north of Butler on rural route number two from the Butler office. He was the son of the late J. R. and Mrs. Mary Adams, whose home in lifetime was in Crawford County (?). Surviving Mr. Adams are his devoted companion who before their marriage was Miss Mary Lou Gresham, two sons, Messrs. W. B. Adams, Jr. and J. D. Adams, one daughter, Mrs. E. F. Peed, many near relatives and admiring friends. Funeral for Mr. Adams, followed by interment took place Saturday at 11 A.M. at Howard Cemetery, the services being conducted by Elder L. O. Walker, pastor of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. C. W. Hancock, pastor of the Howard Methodist Church. Pallbearers included the following: acting - Messrs. D. W. George and Hugh Culverhouse, Clem and J. B. Adams, and Zack Hayes; honorary - Messrs. Frank Gray, Allen Payne, L. T. Peed, Albert Peed, Thelmon Jarrell, Eli Gaultney, Bill Culverhouse and Luke Adams.

Last Will and Testament of John Gresham Sr. - 19-Feb-1848

State of Georgia
Upson County
In the name of God Amen, I John Gresham of said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem it right and proper both as respects myself and my family that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me with. I therefore make this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling all others heretofore made by me.
Item first. I give and bequeath unto Ezekiel Lloyd my son in law five dollars in silver as his full portion or share of my Estate both Real and Personal.
Item Second. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Lloyd and her children one fourtheenth part of my Estate both Real and Personal free from the controls of her present Husband Ezekiel Lloyd and to be free from and unincumbered from any of his debts or contracts in any manner whatever.
Item Third. I give and bequeath unto Harris McDaniel my son in law five dollars in silver as his full portion or share of my Estate both Real and Personal.
Item Fourth. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lucinda McDaniel and her children one fourtheenth part of my Estate both Real and Personal free from the controls of her present Husband Harris McDaniel and to be free from and unincumbered from any of his debts or contracts in any manner whatever.
Item fifth. I hereby appoint my son Pleasant Gresham Trustee for my Daughter Mary Lloyd and her children and Lucinda McDaniel and her children to carry the above second and fourth Items fully into effect.
Item Sixth. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter in law, Melinda Gresham the wife of my son John Gresham, Jr. late of Lincoln County and State aforesaid Deceased five dollars in silver as her full portion or share of my Estate both Real and Personal.
Item seventh. I give and bequeath unto my two grand Children John Q. Gresham and Josephine Gresham the children of my son John Gresham, Jr. late of Lincoln County and State aforesaid Deceased Jointly one fourteenth part of my Estate both Real and Personal.
Item eighth. I hereby appoint my Brother in law Dennis Paschall of Wilkes County and State aforesaid Trustee for my two Grand Children named in the Seventh Item to carry said Item fully into effect.
Item ninth. I give and bequeath all the rest of my Estate what ever it may be both Real and Personal unto my Wife Susan Gresham and the rest of my Children to Wit. Pleasant Gresham, William Gresham, Jeremiah Gresham, George W. Gresham, Hezekiah Gresham, Joshua McKenney, Willis McMullin, Travis McKenney, Barkesdale Pickard, and George K. McKenndly, to be equally divided between them.
Item tenth. It is my wish and desire that my entire Estate both Real and Personal be Legally exposed at public sale in order that all the above Items be fully put into effect.
Item eleventh. I constitute and appoint my beloved Wife Susan Gresham Executrix and my son Pleasant Gresham Executor to this my last Will and Testament this 19th February 1848.
