A motion brought in by brother Forest Webb to know whither [sic] it is expedient or not to have a commitee to settle temporal disputes between brethren - The matter taken up and after [a] full investigation [it] is answered in the negative.

A matter brought in by brother Deweese to know whither [sic] it is expedient for this church to Join the depending [impending] association to be held at Dry Creek [Baptist Church] meeting house next July. The matter taken up & refer'd.
Bro. Vawter requested to cite Brethren Lehew & Murfey to attend [our] next meeting & give their reasons for their non attendance [at] several meetings [in the] past.

Saturday the 5th of March 1803 Brother Deweese Moderator.
A Complaint brought in by Brother Wm. Rogers, against brother Robert Garnett, for some immodest attempts towards a women - The matter thereof [was] taken up and after investigation, guilt is found, he failing to give satisfaction was suspended.
Brethren Lehew & Murfey came forward and gave satisfaction for their neglect of attending several meeting [in the] past.
The reference respecting our joining the depending [impending] association on [at] Dry Creek continued.
Agreed to reconsider the propriety of our rule of white male members not attending church meetings. The matter thereof taken up and after due consultation [it was] ordered that the rule be discontinued.
A request from some of the members at the south end of this church’s [boundary] for helps to assist them in forming a constitution [constituting a new church] if to them it should be deemed expedient - we therefore appoint Brethren Deweese, Cave, Watts, Matthews Kirtley, Hall and Webb as helps to meet at the new meeting hosue by brother Sebree's, next Saturday for that purpose and make report thereof [at our] next meeting.

Saturday the 2nd of April 1803 Brother Watts Moderator.
A complaint brought forward by brother Hall, against Brethren Jacob Bullock and Mathias Redding for contradicting each other, and making use of unsavory speeches. The matter thereof taken up as to the former [Bullock] & after full investigation guilt is found & he failing to give satisfaction was suspended.
Also the complaint respecting the latter [Redding] taken taken up - he found guilty of sin & satisfaction not obtained, he also [was] suspended.
We therefore appoint Brethren Chichester Matthews - Edmund Garnett & Michael Clore as a committee to endeavor to settle the above dispute.
A dispute brought in against Elimas - a black member (belonging to brother John Hall), for absconding from his Master & deviating from the truth when interrogated . The matter thereof taken up [and] guilt found & he not being present - the matter thereof was defered, and brother Matthews requested to cite him to attend next meeting to answer the complaint.
The reference respecting brother Robert Garnett taken up - he still failing to give satisfaction was excommunicated.
The members of this church appointed last meeting as helps in constituting a Church on the south side of Woolperts Creek reported that they proceeded to constitute the Middle Creek Baptist Church of the following members (to wit) Christopher Wilson, Lucy Wilson, Fanny Sebree, Jamison Hawkins, Ruth Hawkins, William Rogers, Sally Rogers, Elijah Hogan, Lucy Hogan, Isaac Carlton, Dorcas Carlton, Thomas Carter, Nancy Carter, John Ryle, Elizabeth Ryle, James Ryle, Sally Ryle, & Milley Sebree .
And of the following black members (to wit) Anthony (belonging to brother Jamison Hawkins) and Alice (belonging to Christopher Wilson), and [we] agreed that they be dismissed by constitution [because this new church was organized].
The reference respecting our joining the depending [impending] association on [at] Dry Creek [Baptist Church was] continued.
A request from the [Baptist] Church at Dry fork (by some of her members) to this church for helps to assist them in the ordination of a Deacon on the Saturday before the third Sunday in this month. Therefore we appoint brethren Wm. Cave and Philemon Vawter to attend at the afor'd [afore mentioned] time for that purpose.
A request from some of the members of North West of the Ohio River for helps to assist them in the Constitution of a church if to them it should appear necessary - we therefore appoint Brethren Lewis Deweese, Chichester Matthews, & John Hall to attend on the third Saturday in this month for the above purpose.
Granted Sister Caty Carrell a letter of Dismission.
[We granted the] Same to Brother Moses Scott.
Same to Winny - a black woman belonging to John Lindsay.
Same to Rachel - a black woman belonging to Joseph Hawkins.

Saturday the 7th of May 1803 Brother Kirtley Moderator.
A Complaint brought forward by brother George Gaines against Sisters Jane Cloud & Lucy Conner for an irreconciliation between them concerning a settlement of temporal affairs; the matter thereof taken up and [we] appointed Brother Jeremiah Kirtley - Forest Webb and Absalom Graves, to adjust the difficulties and strive to bring about a union between them, and make a report thereof at [our] next meeting.
A complaint brought in by brother John Watts against brother Wm. Worrell for having drank to a little excess - the matter thereof taken up and satisfaction given.
The Reference respecting brethren Bullock and Redding, taken up & for want of further evidence in the case [it] is continued.
The Reference concerning Elimas (belonging to brother John Hall) was taken up - he [was] found guilty of sin & failing to give satisfaction was suspended.
A complaint brought in against Rachel (a black woman belonging to brother James Ryle) for the sin of fomication - the matter thereof taken up - she being absent [it] is refered, and [we] appointed brother Watts to cite her to attend next meeting to answer the complaint.
Conrad Saylors & Caty - his wife are received members of this church by a letter of dismission.
Mary Hackleman is received a member of this church by a letter of dismission.
Salley Hackleman is received a member of this church by a letter of dismission.
Jacob Hackleman is received a member of this church by a letter of recommendation by many of his acquaintances and members of the church to which he belonged in the state of South Carolina.
Agreed that the Deacons proportion the sum of ten dollars on the members of this Church for the use of the church fund & make report thereof [at our] next meeting.
Agreed that the deacons annually at the May Church meeting are to render an account to the church of all money received by them & how [it was] expended [spent].
Brother William Smith dismissed by letter.

Saturday the 4th of June 1803 Brother Cave Moderator.
The reference concerning brethren Bullock and Redding continued.
The reference respecting Elimas taken up - he not being present, the matter thereof is continued, and [we] appointed brother Hall to cite him to attend next meeting.
The reference concerning Rachel (belonging to Brother James Ryle) taken up - she failing to attend & give satisfaction was excommunicated.
The committee appointed last meeting to try [to] settle the difficulties between sisters Jane Cloud & Lucy Conner -- Reported that they proceeded to act agreeable to the churches [sic] request and that the sisters have got reconciled with each other - therefore the matter is dismissed.
The Deacons appointed last meeting to apportion the sum of ten dollars on the members of this church for the use of the Church fund made their report - [It was] satisfactory.
The reference respecting our joining the depending [impending] association to be held on [at] Dry Creek [on the] last friday in July next, taken up & after [a] full investigation is answered in the affirmative.
And [we] appointed brethren William Cave, Chichester Matthews, Lewis Deweese - John Watts - Jeremiah Kirtley & Absalom Graves messengers to the afs'd [aforesaid] association.

[We granted the] Same to Sister Winifert Johnson.

A request from the church at Middle Creek - by some of her members, to this church for helps in the ordination of a Deacon. Therefore we appoint brethren Wm. Cave - Lewis Deweese & Jeremiah Kirtley to attend on the 2nd Saturday in this month at Middle Creek meeting house for that purpose.
Brother William Worrell informed against himself for having drank too much spirituous [sic] Liquor. The matter thereof taken up and it is found [that] he making some acknowledgement was acquited.

A Complaint brought forward against Brother Augustine Smith for drinking to excess, entering into an affray [assaultJ., and making use of unsavory speeches. The matter thereof taken up, he being absent is reffered [sic] & [we] appointed Brother Cave to cite him to attend next meeting to answer the complaint.
Abraham Hackleman received [as] a member of this church by letter of dismission.
The Church letter [to the association] read and approved.
Sister Kezia Ashley dismissed by letter.

Saturday the 6th of August 1803 Brother Cave Moderator.
A complaint brought forward (by brother Tho. Whitaker) against. Brother George Corn for drinking to excess and entering into an affray [assault]. & striking a man several times. The matter thereof taken up - he being absent is refered & [we] appointed Bro. Ab[raha]m Depew to cite him to attend next meeting to answer the charges before mentioned.
Bro. John Taylor laid in against brother John Conner the following complaints (to wit)
1st - For general neglect in his business last year (as an overseer) to the damaging of him by supposition 30 barrels of com and 150 bushels of wheat. The matter taken up - the charge denyed [sic] & [we] considered him not guilty.
2nd - For not paying of just debts to the amount of 23 bushels of salt & a barrel of whiskey. The matter taken up, the debts [were] acknowledged, excuses offered & he acquited him.
3rd - For knowingly departing from the truth in the sale of apple trees to Esq[uire] Mills. The matter taken up and the charge acknowledged to, with some recantations - but [they were] not satisfactory & he suspended.
4th - For objecting to leave their matters of difficulty to men. The matter taken up, reasons offered for refusing and on [a] motion it is agreed that this complaint be discon[tinued].
Brother Hadyen informed against himself for drinking too much spirituous [sic] liquor - The matter taken up - guilt [is] found - he making some acknowledgement was acquited.
The refference [sic] concerning brethren Bullock & Redding taken up; satisfaction obtained and they [were] restored.
The refference [sic] concerning Elimas taken up & he [is] still continued under suspension.
Robert Garnett [was] restored from a state of excommunication to full fellowship with this church.
Granted brother Wm Standley & wife a letter of dismission.
Same to Brother George Crist & wife.
Same to Harry (a black man belonging to Brother James Ryle).
Same to Luck a black woman belonging to brother John Ryle.
Same to Brother John Watts & wife.
Motioned by Brother Forest Webb to know whither [sic] it is expedient or not for this church to adopt a rule that no male member of this church shall absent his seat in time of church business without leave [permission] of the Moderator. The matter taken up and refered.

Saturday the 3rd of September 1803 Brother Kirtley Moderator.
A complaint laid in (by brother Wm Cave Jr.) against Jane - a black woman belonging to Capt. George Christy - for the sin of fornication - The matter taken up, she failed to attend & give satisfaction - she was excommunicated.
A complaint brought forward by Bro. Kirtley against Brother Willoughby Sladyen for drinking to excess and railing [speaking harshly] against several of the members of this church in stead of taking gospel steps [according to the 18th chapter of Matthew] with them. The matter taken up - investigated [and] guilt found - he not being present was suspended.
The reference concerning Brother George Corn taken up, and he denyed [sic] the first charge & confessed the second & failing to give satisfaction [he] was suspended.
The reference respecting brother John Conner taken up - he failing to give satisfaction, his suspension was continued.
The Reference concerning Elimas (belonging to Bro. Hall) taken up with an additional complaint of an act [of] fornication, no satisfaction obtained - he is excommunicated.
The motion for considering the propriety of this Church to adopt a rule for members to first obtain leave [permission] before they absent themselves in time of business, was taken up & fully investigated and answered in the negative.
Motioned by brother John Hall to reconsider the propriety of our rule of excluding by unanimity - the matter [was] taken up & after due consultation, [we] agreed to exclude for the future by a majority, except those members that are now under suspension.

Saturday the 1st day of October 1803 Brother Deweese Moderator.
A complaint brought forward by brother Wm Caldwell against Sister Susanna Allen for the sin of fornication. She not being present - the matter thereof continued.
The reference concerning Brother John Conner's suspension was taken up, he still failing to give satisfactiion - his suspension was continued.
The reference [of] brother Willoughby Hadyen's suspension was taken up. he failing to attend and give satisfaction was excommunicated.
Brother Chichester Matthews is appointed to act [as] moderator in turn with those heretofore appointed to that work.
Motioned (by Brother Tho. Whitaker) to reconsider the propriety of our present mode of diciline [discipline] with transgressing members. The matter taken up and [we] agreed that all private tresspasses & offences shall be dealt with agreeable to the 18th [chapter] of Matthew, but publick transgressions may be handled in the church by any member who have dealt with & notified the transgressors that a complaint will be lodged against him, or her, at the next meeting.

The reference concerning the suspension of sister Susanna Allen was taken up. [S]he appeared and made acknowledgements that were satisfactory and was restored to fellowship.
Mrs. Milley Chamberlain - [blank] Smith and Jesse Vawter received for baptism.
A motion by Brother McIntosh for a committee to be appointed to settle disputes of a temporal nature between members of this church, this matter taken up and refered.
A matter of complaint handed in (by brother Lewis Johnson) against brother John Carrell for drinking to excess & swearing profanely. The matter taken up and [we] appointed bro. Wm Sebree to cite him to attend next meeting and answer to the same.

A Complaint brought in (by brother Matthias Redding) against brother Archibald Merritt for trading an unsound horse for a well sound one. The matter taken up & brother Merrit not being present, the matter thereof continued, & [we] appointed brother Lehew to cite him to attend [our] next meeting and answer the above charges.
The Refference concerning brother George Corn taken up - satisfaction obtained, & he [was] restored to fellowship.
The refference respecting brother John Conner taken up - he making a satisfactory acknowledgement was acquited.
The refference respecting brother John Carrel taken up, the charge acknowledged to with some recantations, but not satisfactory and he suspended.
The motion made by brother McIntosh last meeting for appointing a committee was taken up, investigated and answered in the negative.

A matter of complaint handed in by brother Dan'l Mosby against brother John Horsley for sticking a man; the matter thereof taken up - guilt found - satisfaction not obtained and he [was] suspended.
A complaint handed in (by brother Lehew) against Brother William Worrell for drinking to excess, the matter taken up. Investigated - gult was found - satisfaction given & he [was] restored.
A complaint brought forward against brother William Webb (by brother McIntosh) for not complying with his contract in the purchase of some sheep - The matter thereof taken up & after full investigation he is found guilty ; and after making some recantations for the same [he] was forgiven.
The suspension of Brother John Carrel[l] taken up - he still failing to give satisfaction - his suspension was continued.
The refference respecting brother Archibald Merrit[t] [was] taken up - he being present and denyed the charge; we therefore appointed Brethren Jeremiah Kirtley, John Hall, Absalom Graves, Wm Cave Jr., & George Gaines as a committee to try to settle the dispute & make report thereof to [our] next meeting.
Motioned by brother Wm Montague to reconsider the publick gift [to preach] of bro. Matthews - The matter taken up & defered.
Granted brother Philemon Vawter & wife a letter of dismission.

The committee appointed last meeting to try to settle the dispute between Brethren Mathias Redding & Arch Merrit reported that they proceeded according to the churches request and they did not find brother Merrit guilty of the charge -- therefore the matter thereof is discontinued.
The reference concerning Brother John Horsley taken up and defered.

Thomas Deweese received from a state of excommunication to full fellowship with this church.
The refference respecting the publick gift of Bro. Matthews defered till next meeting.

Saturday the 7th of April 1804 Brother Kirtley Moderator.
Brother Wm. Webb informed against himself for some disorderly conduct, the matter taken up - guilt found - he made some acknowledgements & was acquited.
The refference concerning Brother John Horsley taken up - he not being present, [we] appointed brother Mosby to cite him to attend next meeting.
The refference concerning the publick gift [to preach] of Brother Matthews taken up and after due consultation the Church unanimously agreed to his ordination & by his request the same is defered.
A request from the members living near Mudlick [near Beaver Lick, Boone County] for helps in constituting a church in their neighbourhood - we therefore appoint Brethren Cave, Kirtley, and Matthews to attend agreeable to [their] request.
Received a request from the church at Dryfork for ministerial help to celebrate the Lord[']s Supper - also to ordain a Deacon - the Church proceeded to act agreeable to the request. Motioned by brother McIntosh to reconsider our third rule - the matter taken up & after investigation [we] agreed that the amendment took place in the said rule at [our] October meeting[,] 1802 be erraced [sic]. Agreed that next meeting be a communion season.

A complaint brought in by Brother Kirtley against brother Augustine Smith for drinking spiritous liquors to excess. The matter thereof taken up - guilt found - he not being present brother Wm. Cave is appointed to cite him to attend next meeting.
The order of last meeting respecting the citeing [sic] of brother John Horsley not being complied with - the same order is continued.
A complaint brought in by brother Mosby against bro. William Worrell sen'r. for the sin of intoxication. The matter thereof taken up & fully investigated - guilt found - no satisfaction given & he [was] excommunicated.

Saturday the 2nd of June 1804 Brother Deweese Moderator.
The refference respecting brother John Horsely taken up - he failing to attend on account of inablility; the matter thereof is continued.
The refference concerning brother Augustine Smith taken up; he failing to attend & give satisfaction was excommunicated.
Query. Whither [sic] a lay member may properly assist in constituting a Church - the matter thereof is taken up & after due consultation agree to send it as a Query to the next association.
Query; whither [sic] it is proper to charge any member who is under suspension with new charges without first dealing with him or her for the same according to the rules of this church; the matter taken up & answered in the negative.
Brethren Lewis Deweese, Wm Cave sem., Jeremiah Kirtley, and Absalom Graves are appointed messengers to the next Northbend association to be held at the Forks of Licking [Baptist Church, Campbell County] on the 4th Friday in [the] next month.
Brethren William Cave, Absalom & Joseph Graves are appointed to prepare a letter for said association & that the same be presented & read [at our] next meeting.

The suspension of brother Horsly taken up - satisfaction obtained & he restored to fellowship.

The church letter to the associaiton read & approved.
Agreeable to a request from the [Baptist] church at Banklick for helps in the ordination of brother George Hurne on the 2nd Saturday in this month - we appointed brethren Lewis Deweese & Wm Cave to attend for that purpose.
Query: whither [sic] a church when sent to, may properly send a layman as a help to judge of the gifts & qualifications of a minister who is set forward for ordination; the matter taken up and [we] agreed to send it as a query to the ensuing association.

Saturday the 4th of August 1804 Brother Kirtley Moderator.
The deacons made their report (as to the statement of the church fund) - it was satisfactory .
Agreed that the Deacons refund two dollars & fifty cents to the messengers of our association for money advanced by them for the printing of the minutes.
Isaac Rentfro received [as] a member of this church by letter of recommendation - likewise he is requested to officiate in his ministerial capacity with us.
Agreeable to request from the [Baptist] church at Mudlick for helps in the ordination of a deacon and the administration of the Lord[']s Supper on the 3rd Saturday & Sunday in this month. We appoint brethren Deweese, Cave, Webb & Graves to attend on [for] that purpose.
Brother Rentfro is appointed [a] moderator to act in turn for the future with those that have been hitherto set apart for that work.
A request from the [Baptist] church at Dryfork for helps in the ordination of one of her members on the third Friday in this month - the matter taken up and [we] appointed brethren Rentfro - Kirtley, Garnett, & Hall to attend on [for] that purpose.

Brother Lewis Johnson appointed to cite brother George Corn to attend next meeting and give his reasons for his none [non] attendance several meetings [in the] past.
Agreed that next meeting be a communion season.
Agreed that the Deacons of this church apportion the sum of six dollars on the members of this church for the use of the church fund & make up thereof [at our] next meeting.

Friday the 4th of October 1804 Brother Lewis Deweese Moderator.
A matter of complaint handed m by brother Richard Tanner against brother John Horsley for entering mto an affray [assault] - the matter taken up - guilt found - no satisfaction obtained & he [was] excommunicated.
Polly Rentfro Received by letter of recommendation.
The reference respecting brother Geo. Corn[']s none [sic] attendance was taken up - he not being present the same is continued.
Agreeable to an order of last meeting, the Deacons made their report satisfactory as to the apportionment of six dollars on the members of this church.
Agreed to defer communing untill the second Sunday m this month.
A request from some of the friends on Laughery [in Indiana] to this church for some of her members to attend at a meeting appointed at Lyon's on the 3rd Saturday & Sunday m the present month m order for the reception of members - we therefore appoint brethren Lewis Deweese, Isaac Rentfro, Jeremiah Kirtley, Edmund Gamett, Absalom Graves, John Jones & Edward Webb to attend agreeable to the request. adj'd till meeting m course

Saturday the 3rd of November 1804 Brother Rentfro Moderator.
A complaint brought in by brother Kirtley against brother John McIntosh for intoxicating himself with spiritous liquors. The matter taken up - guilt found - he acknowledged himself to have been guilty of the charge and such further acknowedgements as were satisfactory & he [was] acquited.
Brother William Webb informed against himself of having entered into an affray & fighting - the matter taken up - guilt found: satisfaction not obtained and he [was] suspended.
Brother George Corn made known his reasons for failing to attend several meetings [in the] past and they [were] satisfactory.
Brother Jacob Hackleman - his wife and daughter are dismissed by letter.
The members who were appointed at last meeting to attend a meeting on Laughery - reported that they had attended & received and baptized Betsy Lyn & Betsy Grove as members of this church whose names are directed to be enrolled.
A complaint brought in by brother Jones against Bro. Mathias Redding for publicly accusing him the said brother Jones with that which amounted to purgery [sic] - the matter thereof was taken up - guilt found & satisfaction not obtained [Redding] was suspended.

Saturday the 1st of December 1804 Brother Matthews Moderator.
A complaint handed in by brother Cave Johnson against brother George Corn for drinking spirituous [sic] liquors to excess. The matter thereof taken up - guilt found - he failing to attend and give satisfaction was excluded.

A motion made by brother Hall to consider the propriety of our mode of suspending members - The matter thereof taken up; investigated and the motion discontinued.
A motion by bro. Deweese to reconsider the propriety of our present mode of appointing moderators; the matter thereof taken up - investigated & agreed that the same mode be established.
A motion by brother Kirtley to turn 4 seats on each side of the front door of this meeting house, & also to fix a post under the girder of the gallery - the matter taken up & continued.

Anna Vawter received a member of this church by a letter of recommendation.
Polly Graves received a member of this church by same.
Whereas it is represented to this church that Middle Creek [Baptist] Church is some degree in disorder - Therefore we do appoint our brethren Lewis Deweese, Jeremiah Kirtley, John Hall, C. Matthews, Forrest Webb & Absalom Graves as messengers to attend their next church meeting to treat [talk] with, & make report thereof [at our] next meeting.
Sister Sally Smith dismissed by letter.
Brethren John Conner, George Gaines & Joseph Graves are appointed a committe[e] to procure as much land for this church as they shall deem sufficient for the use of the meeting house.

The messengers appointed last meeting to treat [talk] with Middle Creek [Baptist] Church made their report that they proceeded to act agreeable to this churches [sic] request - and that they did not find them guilty of the accusation therefore the matter thereof is discont[inued].
The reference respecting our present mode of moderation defered.
Brother Eliott Vawter & wife dismissed by letter.
Nelley (a black woman belonging to brother John Graves) [was] dismissed by letter.
Agreed that the Deacons apportion the sum of six dollars on the members of this church for the use of the church fund & make report next meeting.
Brother Edward Webb is appointed Clerk to this church in the room [place] of Joseph Graves.

Saturday the 6th of April 1805 Brother Matthews Moderator.
The reference of reconsidering our present mode of moderation [choosing a moderator] taken up and agreed to appoint six Members who are to act in turn untill Each shall have served one month and at the expiration of that time the church is to reappoint or alter her mode of moderating in any way that she may think proper and thereupon Breathren [sic], Lewis Deweese, Jeremiah Kirtley, Isaac Rentfro, Chittester [sic] Matthews, John Hall & Absalom Graves are appointed for that purpose.
The proportionment of the sum of six Dollars made by the deacons on the Members of this Church was returned & approv'd.
Agreed to appoint breathren [sic] Rentfro, Kirtley, Mosbey & Matthews to attend on Laughery [in Indiana] on the 2nd Saturday & Sunday in May for the purpose of receiving Members by letter or Expearance [sic] and Baptism, and make report thereof.
Agreed that the Friday before the first Saturday in June this Church do meet in order to do her Business, and that Saturday be kept as a day of prayer and on Sunday the Lord[']s Supper be administered.

Friday the 3rd of May[June] 1805 Brother Deweese Moderator. A Matter of Complaint handed [in] by Bro. Jeremiah Kirtley against bro. Jeremiah Graves for haveing [sic] drank too much Spirituos [sic] liquor, the matter thereof Taken up, the charge acknowledged to, guilt found, satisfaction not obtained & he [was] exlcuded.
Brother Benjamin Sailor received by letter of recommendation.
Sister Rillor Saylor rec'd by same.
Essex & fillis - a black man & woman belonging to Larken Ryle - rec'd for Baptism.
The members appointed at April Meeting to attend on Lauhory [Laughery, in Indiana] in order for the reception of Members reported that they proceeded to attend agreeable to request and that no person was rec'd.
Appointed breathren [sic] Lewis Deweese - Isaac Rentfro- Jeremiah Kirtley & Absalom Graves Messengers to the next Northbend association to be held on the 4th Friday in July next at Bullittsburgh meeting house.
Also appointed Breathren [sic] Isaac Rentfro - Absalom Graves & Joseph Graves to prepare a letter to s'd [said] association and that the same be read [at] next meeting.
A request from Middle Creek [Baptist] Church to this Church for helps to assist them on the 3rd Saturday in June next in trying to settle some difficulties that has [sic] arisen amongst them - we therefore appoint breathren [sic] Lewis Deweese - Chittester [sic] Matthews - Jeremiah Kirtley Senr. - Forest Webb - John Hall & Absalom Graves to attend agreeable to the request.

Saturday the 6th of July 1805 Brother [R]entfro Moderator.
Rec'd for baptism Polley Montague and Maria a black woman belonging to Bro. Wm Montague.
The letter to the association was read and approved.
A motion by Bro. Cave that the question on every motion - proposition or quary [query] made and seconded shall be immediately taken without any reasons to be offered for or against the Taking up of the same, The matter thereof taken up - investigated and agreed to.
Agreed that the following rules be adopted as the rules of this Church Rule
1st Church meetings shall be opened & closed by prayer.
Rule 2nd All complaints [are] to be rec'd in the church & references attended to, before a door be opened for the reception of members.
Rule 3rd Any member who shall exhibit a complaint against another shall have no voice in the decision.
Rule 4th Any member who shall be found guilty of sin by a majority shall not be restored but by unanimous consent.
Rule 5th All private trespasses and offenses shall be delt [sic] with agreeable to the 18th [chapter] of Matthew. But publick Transgressions may be handed in the Church by any member who have delt [sic] with & notify'd the transgressor that a complaint will be lodg'd against him or her at the next meeting.
Rule 6th All questions decided by the church shall be by a majority Except in the reception & restoration of members, which shall be by Unanimity.
Rule 7th Every Motion - proposition or querry [sic] made & seconded shall come under the consideration of the church, Except [it be] withdrawn by the member who made it.
Rule 8th No member shall speak more than Twice to any Matter in debate without leave [permission] of the church.
Rule 9th Any member speaking shall strickly [sic] ahear [adhere] to the subject and shall not reflect on the members who spoke before him, but shall endeavor to give light on the subject.
Rule 10th Only one person shall speak at a time, who shall first rise and address the moderator, and shall not be interrupted by any unless he brake [sic] the rules of this decorum, in which case the Moderator shall or any member may call him to order, and he shall immediately take his seat.
Rule 11th No member in time of business shall address another in any other appellation than that of brother.
Rule 12 The moderator shall be intitled [sic] to the same priviledge of speech as any other member provided his seat be filled but shall not vote except the church be equilly [sic] divided.
Rule 13th At the close of business on each church meeting day the Minutes shall be publicky read by the Clerk (corrected if necessary) and approved by the Church.
Rule 14th The rules of this decorum [are] to be read by the clerk on each church meeting day at the opening of business untill [sic] it shall be otherwise directed by the church.

A complaint brought forward by Suckey - a black Member belonging to Capt. Dicken - against herself for Taken [sic] a few twists of hemp without leive [permission] of her master - the matter thereof taken up - guilt found - satisfaction obtained and she acquited.
Agreed that next November['s] meeting be [a] communion season.
Motioned by Bro. Cave to reconsider our present mode of moderating - the matter taken up and investigated and continued.

The reference respecting brother Fortune taken up and for want of Certain Evidences his suspension continued.
The reference respecting our preasent [sic] mode of of moderating taken up, investigated, and [we] agreed to appoint Breathren [sic] Deweese, Rentfro, & A. Graves to act in turn till otherwise directed by the Church.
A Complaint Brought forward from Middle Creek [Baptist] Church against this church for prohibiting Mr. Watts - a preaching Member of s'd [said] Church from preaching amongst them without first taken [taking] the Gospel steps with him, The matter thereof taken up and after being fully investigated, satisfaction was obtained and the matter discontinued.
A request from the [Baptist] Church at Mudlick to this Church For helps to assist them in the ordination of Deacons and thereupon Breathren [sic] Rentfro & Matthews are appointed to attend at Bro. Sleet[']s on the 3rd Sunday in this month for that purpose.
