St. David Miner Brought Here for Burial Yesterday.
Burial was made in the LaHarpe cemetery yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon for Robert B. Shaub, 67, St. David blacksmith
and mine worker, who succumbed to a five months' illness on Sunday at Graham hospital in Canton. Mr. Shaub was the husband of Lucy McCleary, to who he was
married at Disco on April 25, 1900.
The son of John and Susan (Scott) Shaub, Robert B. Shaub was born in Airsville,
Pennsylvania on September 14, 1874. After his marriage Lucy McCleary at Disco, the young couple established their home in the Canton and St. David
communities and had resided there for 42 years.
He is survived by his widow, four brothers, Jacob, John, David and Harry, of Mount
Holly, New Jersey; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Lutz of Trenton, New Jersey and Sarah of Chester, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Shaub was a member of both the Eagles and the Modern Woodmen of America.
His remains were brought here for interment after funeral services on Wednesday
afternoon at the Murphy Memorial home in Canton, over which Rev. V. W. Elston officiated.
Mr. Shaub's wife is a sister of the late Fred, Jerry and Elmer McCleary, all well-known former
residents of the Disco and LaHarpe area, and for several years Mr. Shaub worked at the blacksmith trade in the early-day Peasley shop in Terre Haute.
