the son of George and Elizabeth Bensinger Waters.
He died July 19, 1911, Elizabeth City, NC.
Samuel is buried at the Old Hollywood Cemetary, Elizabeth City, NC.

Samuel Waters enlisted in the Union Army at Bloomsburg, PA on or
about April 22, 1861 (6th PA Reserves Company A) at age of 28.
He was 5ft. 9 in., Black hair, Blue eyes.
Capt. Waters' unit fought in the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1-3, 1863
and subsequently was wounded in the left knee at the battle of
Bethesda Church, VA (near Cold Harbor, VA) on May 30, 1864.
He was discharged June 11, 1864.
