7th Anniversary Celebrations

Youth in Action

Some of the Activities - With the strong foundational basis of the Christian Faith and Gospel values there are many activities being facilitated and encouraged amoung the Youth of the Parish. Some oaf the activities: "Sruthi Youth", "YCS Boys' Unit", and the newly started "YCS Girls' Unit", "ITI Students Group" and the "Shamrock Children's Club", "SPY" - the original St. Patrick's Youth. At the time of editing this (October 1996) Fr. Gerard Vallan, Bro. Sampath and Bro. P. Arokia Raj are Value Education Teachers in the ITI Students Group and the Computer Center. The Animators represent and co-ordinate with one another to organise the Youth activities effectively. The Parish Clergy also are involved in the Youth activities. This year YCS / YSM celebrate their Golden Jubilee. There is a full schedule of activities planned for the rest of the year, and some have already been carried out. In a joint programme the Sruthi Youth, YCS Boys' and Girls' Units, ITI and Computer Students and others took part in the Conference of the Karnataka Christian Progressive Front in support of the Dalit Christians ( rallies are organised for the inclusion of Dalit Christians in the Scheduled Caste Lists so that they may be recognised and get benefits given by the Government ). The Youth also visited the children's ward of the Kidwai Cancer Hospital. ... Extract from "The Patrician", the Newsletter of the Parish.

Programs for the Community of St. Patrick's Church

The Community Welfare Centre under the guidance of Sydney Mendens organised the 'Community Week" in October 1996. The Programs consisted of Inaugral Mass followed by a Tableaux, Youth Seminar & Fellowship, Western Music & Indian Music Competition, Rangoli (art on the ground done with the aid of coloured powders), Painting Competition, Essay Competition, Senior Parishioners' Fellowship, Collage Preparation, Living Rosary, Bible Quiz for Children, Blood Donation Camp, Parish Luncheon, etc. ... this year the program was from 20th October to 27th October. For the last four years the program has been a success in bringing together the Parishioners of St. Patrick's Church. Because of the size, the Parish is divided into seven zones, named St. Anthony's, St. Thomas's, St. Francis Xavier's, St. Joseph's, St. Paul's, St. Peter's and Marian Zones. Marian Zone has a good area covered by the Good Shepherd Convent.

Thought for the Day:" Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, Fon in the manner their fathers did to the prophets. But woe to you who are rich, For you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full, For you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, For you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, For so did they fathers to the false prophets." Holy Bible: Luke 6:20-26
